Michiana Humane Society strives to find the perfect home for every animal. Our staff makes sure each furry friend is up-to-date on their vaccinations and heart worm and flea/tick preventatives, along with ensuring each pet is payed/neutered for the safety of everyone!
By choosing to adopt a dog, cat, or critter from Michiana Humane Society, you are choosing to give a pet a new beginning.

Come into the shelter to meet our animals!
We find the best way to select a pet is to spend time with them. Sometimes what you expect from a photo on Facebook is not what you’ll find when you meet them. We want you to know the good and the challenging about our animals!

Fill out an application at the shelter.
We do not provide applications in advance, because we want you to meet the pet first. Allow yourself fifteen minutes or so to complete the two page application at the center once you’ve met your match!

We will reach out to you.
We will call the approved applicant on the following business day to schedule the next steps.
If you do not hear from us, feel free to call in to check. We will keep your application on file for up to a year.
Adoption Fees
Effective January 1, 2026.
Our Adoption fees reflect the care animals get at MHS.
Dogs
All dogs are spayed or neutered and microchipped before going home. They have basic vaccinations and are heartworm tested. They are current on heartworm and flea/tick preventatives.

Rest assured your new critter has been well taken care of here at Michiana Humane Society. Rabbits have been spayed or neutered before leaving our facility.
